That’s my headcanon. Seriously, Kenshin’s excuses never make sense for me. They were irrational.

ClubKenshin on deviantART announced its third annual contest. The theme is “Black and White” and the subtheme is either courage, honour or redemption. I’d like to participate cause I’m a vain person but all my fanart so far was origami-based. Well, you know:

Add to this that Rurouni Kenshin was never about courage or honour and you’ll understand my problem with the contest. But I started to think about redemtion which lead me to Battousai. And to the black envelope with the name of the target - person to be killed. That’s how I started anyway. Regretfully, my idea turned out to be too nasty for my taste and too hard for my skills. But I wanted too badly to share my idea with the world so here it is: short manga story “Fears”.

“Where is the blood?” maybe you are thinking right now. I forgot to add it, sorry)))
Too bad for Kenshin Freud hadn’t published his works yet…

**It’s a draft.
It’s the first nine pages of the first chapter of the new manga Rurouni Kenshin: Cinema Edition by Watsuki Nobuhiro. It’s in Japanese. Please, use the iPhone(link) or Android application to read them.

Summary: Bakumatsu, the final years of the Edo period, are introduced. Battousai is killing people until Saito, a member of the Shinsengumi, appears. “Battousai is mine,” he says. Saito asks Kenshin if he’s alright fighting in place which is drowning in blood. Kenshin tells that he’s alright as far as it’s Bakumatsu. Time passes and Meiji, an era of peace, sets in. Kenshin, now as a simple rurouni, comes to Tokyo for the first time. Young boy grabs him telling that everyone who is wearing a sword must be put in a jail. Kenshin just smiles and tells the boy that he can be of use…
